Love Chronicles: Montreal Moments

Going away with my Mum was a wonderful little break for me (thank you!), especially during these last few weeks of Winter that can sometimes feel down right crummy. I was able to take in some reading, catch up on my sleep, buy a few treats (as seen here yesterday), and spend quality time with some of my loved ones. This weekend I plan on finishing my unpacking (I'm the very wooorst for this), giving my place some t.l.c. via a cleaning spree & some re-organization, hitting up the farmer's market, and keeping things quiet. I downright promise you an outfit post on Monday! Happy weekend.

So, playing catch up after my mini-vacation has taken over my week pretty rapidly, and I'm only getting around to posting something for you today. I figured I should share a few of my Montreal finds, especially since they knocked a few items off my Spring wishlist. I unfortunately had a pretty crummy experience at Zara on my last day downtown, though, and I have got to say that it left me with a slightly sour taste regarding the store. Unfortunate but true! I also promise that I will get my butt outside for some outfits shots - it's becoming bearable out there and this weekend we spring ahead an hour, giving us a whole extra hour of light! Thank goodness.

Hi all. I'm away for a mini break to Montreal with my Mum and thought I would share a few snaps from the packing process for a Winter vacation. For the weekend I plan on taking in the rest of my books & magazines, catching up on some sleep, having dinner with a best pal, finding croissants, and of course, picking up some Spring duds here in the "big city" (yes, to me it is most definitely the big city). Though it's still bitterly cold out on most days, I have migrated over to warm Spring thoughts. One of my very favorite things happening in Spring fashion right now is head to toe color toning, as long as it is done well and with thought. These colored jeans had to be mine the moment I saw them, as they were essentially a more affordable replica of these beautiful Joe's or these Rag & Bone's. I threw this little shearling lined bomber over everything in order to keep warm, and took my most favorite bibbed necklace out for the day. Just a quick pop-in to say hello and show you some stripes. I can't wait to wear this dress without layered turtle neck & tights and with bare legs & mary-jane wedges. I'm starting my Monday off with a clean house (and freshly organized closet!), a fridge full of groceries, a drawn out work & gym plan, and even a scheduled in mid-week wine date. I find these last few Winter months to be a bit challenging, but with a little effort and organization, the makings of a good week are not too daunting. It's February in Eastern Canada and we are facing our yearly Winter reality. Reality for this week has been a balmy -27 degrees (that's celcius, loves) with some whipping winds and constantly growing snow banks. Not every outfit can be stylish in our extreme climate, and I have come to accept that fact as I kick and scream the Winter months away. I can't tell you how many moments of my days are filled with visions of warmer, longer days. My Spring itch has arrived in full force and I just can't wait for open toes, bare legs, bright colors, and breezes that don't make my skin feel like its burning. Until then, I will be throwing my parka over 12 layers and drinking mounds of coffee to warm up my insides. Have a happy Wednesday!

I thought I might share something sweet for Valentine's Day, though I can't really take any credit for these treats other than the fact that I toted the camera and provided the company during their creation. My pal was hit with the itch to make cupcakes this week, and while I have made my fair share of cupcakes over the years, I had never made (or witnessed the making of) these kind. This recipe can serve as an easy guide to baking these, and I can promise you that you will wonder just where these have been all of your life (kind of like a true love, no?). I'm pausing for your very warranted eye rolls, but wishing you a February 14th filled with something sweet.

This week was a bit rough. Physically, emotionally, and just about everything in between. As the weekend nears, all I can think about is comitting marked portions of time to some relaxing, yet constructive and productive, activities. I am toying with the idea of a new side project, and I have yet to completely conclude the overhaul of my poor, turbulent closet. Beyond that, I plan on resting up & rejuvinating for the days ahead. I thought it might be fun to showcase some different bags full of some different belongings now and again, and since I'm always looking for avenues to use my collection (read: obsessive archives) of photos, I popped this together on a whim. This is certainly a poor representation of my day-to-day tote, which is large enough to hold a small child, and which would need some serious work to be photo ready (i.e. wrappers, receipts, and pennies galore), but it did the trick for the day. Let me know your thoughts!

Corn Cheddar "Chowder"

I meant to post this yesterday, but since I just had a nasty run with food poisoning this week, I had to wait until I could even look at photos of food to get it posted. This recipe has been a staple for me for years now, though I have modified it slightly. I rely on this recipe that my momma sent me a few years back, though I have come to modify the regular milk for goat's milk and the butter for "fake butter" (i.e. dairy free beyond the old cheddar, and for this version, I used goat cheddar). It's delicious either way, and it's a great take on a chowder without the use of heavy creams. My favorite part is the abundance of thyme (my favorite spice) and the fresh red peppers as garnish. Enjoy!

This highly coveted Spike the Punch necklace was a gift from Kate, and really, it has become one of the most worn frequently worn items I own. So versatile, so fun, and always adding a bit of joy to a day when you yourself are feeling dreary. I'm a girl of few words today, but wanted to pop in and say hello. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

There is a music festival in my fair town this weekend, which is just the thing I need to snap out of a bit of a Winter slump. I decided to put together another Polyvore set together peeking into what I'll be wearing & toting (or, for some items, wish I was wearing) for a weekend of scooting to and from shows & having dates with out of town pals.

1: An oversized blazer with a sequin collar (clearly there'd probably be a blouse under there as well).
2: A bowler hat (on my wishlist) & my Spike the Punch necklace.
3: Levis skinnies. Staple!
4: Fun glasses for both an added accessory & great vision - duh.
5: A cropped knit & a leather circle skirt. So classic.
6: Makeup essentials.. Amazing liquid liner for my new favorite style, the kitten flick (learn how!), staple lipstick shades, and lip conditioners to keep chapped lips away.
7: Wool socks for my toes.
8: Booties!
9: Michael Kors Hamilton Bag - Truly the most perfect oversized bag. It fits everything.
10: Dressed up iPhone, snacks to keep the sugar levels up, and maybe a little flask for .. extra curricular.
11: And finally, a warm wool camel coat to pull over it all

Here is the result of reaching into the depths of your closet and blindly throwing items together with the knowledge that you need to keep warm in the extremely freezing temperatures that await you outside. This crop sweater gets thrown over a lot of outfits as a final layer, as the warmth it provides is absolutely insane. I also found this over-sized vintage coat recently and was sold on its darling peter pan collared neck (not featured in the photos, unfortunately... next time!) and its high wool count. I was kept perfectly warm while still being able to incorporate a print in a floaty material. Win/Win!

A collage made with no rhyme or reason whatsoever.. I've been gearing myself up for a season change just a little bit too early, popping together inspiration from every avenue I can. Collared necklaces, simple shifts in exciting prints, mixed florals, versatile clutches & shoes, and statement piece earrings have me officially over the Winter and ready to move onto warmer temps. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have had a peek into this print mix when I posted it here. I have been trying to play with colorful mixes as the dreary Winter days come and go, and this little graphic dress has been a go-to favorite. I had seen this dress all over the blogosphere, styled gorgeously by ladies like Kate and Candice. Though I adored it in person as well, I found myself drawn to the dark rust and vibrant blue version of this simple shift. Mix it with a comfy, over sized scarf and you have one happy Kristin. Goat Chese, Asparagus, and Chive Pasta

One of my resolutions for 2012 was to try to cook & bake more regularly. Original? No. Direly needed? Yes. I have always said that I am a rubbish cook, but guess what? It's kind of a lie. I'm not really that great, and I'm not really that bad, and overall, I'm really just not very motivated. I eat really well, but I make do without a sincere effort. I decided that the blog may help me with my resolution, providing a creative avenue that motivated me to get going. So far? SO GOOD. I have been cooking up a storm in my wonderful little kitchen, amidst new vinyl playing and a small cat purring, and after careful consideration and twitter polling, decided that I will start sharing some recipes here.

This meal was perfect for a bitterly cold evening, as it provided just the right amount of comfort without being too rich. I'm a huge fan of goat cheese, but even if you aren't, I am thinking this dish will strike your fancy. I adapted my dish from this recipe, using a dairy free substitute for butter and adding a lot of fresh garlic. I steer clear of cow's milk, but I bet it would be just that much tastier with the real deal. Vegetarians could easily skip out on the sausage, or substitute with fakes. Yum. Enjoy!

This weekend was full of some lovely things. I spent my weekend between work and the following: eating pad thai in bed with a movie, attending a story telling event, seeing some live music in a record shop, making homemade corn cheddar chowder (cream free - recipe to come!), and stocking up on some fresh beauty essentials (always a favorite past-time). Beyond that, this weekend was cold.. bitterly, bitterly cold. Today called for fleece lined tights, a thick knit dress with a layered sweater, a wool jacket, and a fur stole (though it constantly fell to one side - not sure of its warmth value). This week is looking a bit balmier, but for now, here's one of my best shots at being appropriately bundled. How were your weekends'?

We were blessed with a beautifully "warm" day this week, for which I broke out something other than long johns and a turtleneck. In addition, I completed an extreme closet overhaul, which has left me rejuvenated to mix and match as we get through these harsh Winter months. During the purge & sort, I noticed these two blouses sitting on top of one another and threw them on with my most frequented skirt. I hope you are all having a lovely week!

Stopping in with a Sunday outfit that revolved around keeping as warm as humanly possible. We hit a whopping -28 °C here this weekend, and posing sans coat for these 30 seconds was a trying venture. The hat was meant to cover up some extremely unacceptable hair, but as it appears, it failed that task pretty miserably. These things can happen on a Sunday, and since it's tough business to get even mildly acceptable post material in the dead of winter, I give you this attempt. I am a delinquent. This outfit is mega old, and I just stumbled upon it while browsing my photo library for something else. I remember how warm it was on this (early - oops!) Autumn day, and I believe I was inspired by the Glitter Guide tumblr to mix some fresh stripes, red, and a classic trench. This said, the (faux) leather circle skirt has made a place in my wardrobe from this day forward, and I'm even wearing it today. Forgive me for this utterly non-Winter outfit!

Bring It Downtown

They say that after 10 years of living in Manhattan, you are considered a New Yorker. Embarking on my tenth anniversary of Fredericton life, I am hoping that the same grace is given here. I moved to the city where I currently reside, Fredericton, NB, almost 10 years ago when I decided to come to a post-secondary school for my degree. I fell hopelessly in love, so to speak, with this this composite & charming little place, feeling in my bones that this is where I just need to be. I even scooted off to Ireland for a stint, but found myself sucked back into the vortex of this city and the swell people that make it up.

Downtown Fredericton launched a campaign this year, asking 15 social media addicts to spend $100 dollars here, downtown, spreading the love of what we have to offer locally. If you follow me on Twitter you may have become accustomed to my #bringitdowntown hashtag, which we used to communicate the adventures of our spending as they went down. Because I like to document everything (guys, I'm not joking - it's sort of embarrassing), I decided to put together a photo diary of my finds. I wanted to "keep it real", so I spent a Saturday doing the things I just.. do. And here's what I did.

Starting my Saturday the way I always do, at the Fredericton Farmer's Market. A double latte with a hysterical caffeine buzz to follow.

Following my market excursions I went out for my favorite meal of ~~life~~ the week: brunch. I went to my very favorite brunching location: The Palate.

Eating makes me hungry... for shopping. So I took myself to my favorite consignment shop, reNeu Boutique where I found a vintage Oscar de la Renta dress in. my. size. (!!!) To be styled on the blog next week!

I knew I would be gearing up to go home soon, so I stopped in and picked myself up a turntable treat at Backstreet Records.

After selecting what I thought was the most obvious choice of the day (re-mastered iconic 60's pop, say what?), I headed on home with another dose of coffee to hang out and reflect on my finds. The remainder of my afternoon was spent listening to my new record, admiring my beautiful vintage dress, and hanging out with Pip (shameless pet placement).

I saved a few of my downtown dollars for that evening, as I had thought of something special I could do throughout my day. My best pal Kate was coming to visit me that night from Saint John (where she had moved to from Fredericton earlier this year). After having just received news earlier that week that she & her manfriend are returning to Fredericotn to live (see, vortex), I decided to take her out for a champagne toast at Corked, a stunning little wine bar that I've come to fancy.

We had a great time gallivanting around our city, heading out for some live music at The Capital Complex to finish off my day. Thank you so much to Downtown Fredericton for this unique & fun opportunity, and no matter if you are here locally, or if you are in your own urban or rural area across the globe, give a try to keep things local this year and bring it downtown.

I have been absolutely loving all of the (faux!) fur stoles seen out and about lately. I love how something so simple seems to instantly de-Fall my classic trench, at least while there is no snow on the ground. I stole this from a winter parka, and though it sufficed for the time being, it's sort of the wrong shape and a wee bit on the short side (I'd love to get my hands on this little guy). It's funny to look at these photos, taken just this weekend during a 14 degree day (that's celsius!), as this very street is now a complete winter wonderland of snow. I was wearing a very... Spring-like outfit on a unnaturally warm November day, which is just weird, but it's what struck me from the depths of my closet on that particular Sunday. I bought this dress months ago, and I'm not quite sure why I haven't styled it yet. Sometimes when you love a garment so much, you just don't know how to style it for the first time. How to do it justice, so to speak. This was one of those items. I am picturing it's re-wear in my head, but it involves a holiday party, a top knot, and a major dose of gold bling.

I took a minor plunge on Saturday, cutting off my locks & going for something shorter, richer, and hopefully fresher. One thing I love about fashion blogs is their ability to influence. With such a fine line between being "influenced" and flat out ripping off someone's look, I cannot deny my transformation since starting my blog. Sharing my last set of photos from my session with Kandise (hibou photo) makes me a little sad in the heart. I loved everything about working with this lady, and her skills are beyond bar none. Our last location was ontop of the parking garage in order to grab the setting sunlight. I wore sequins for the occasion, giddy inside everytime I saw one of them give a little glimmer in the sun. I love daytime sequins, and this Zara top has proved to be a perfectly transitional piece of my wardrobe. To me, this outfit is inpsired by so many ladies in the blogging world (Kate, Candice, Bee, and Julia to name just a few). I wanted to put together some of my favorite staples & standards that, for me, create a totally finished product. Mixing a circle skirt, baubly statement jewelry, a starchy blouse, a vintage blazer, and neutral sky high wedges makes me feel effectively put together & dapper (even if it does start raining on 7 seconds into the day). D.I.Y - Fall Centrepiece

I'm really not a D.I.Y kind of girl. I'm also not really a very domestic type of girl. I'm more of a work14hoursandthenshoveandgranolabarinyourfacetoavoidstarvation kind of girl. Lately, though, I have had some more time on my paws, which I have been using to try and better my home, my friends & family, and myself. Who knew that cooking, baking, and diy-ing could be so therapeutic? Dare I say.. relaxing? This was a simple little piece that my mom and I put together on Thanksgiving weekend in order to spice up the table. Easy and fun, this was a perfectly festive centre piece made entirely of flowers from our garden. I figured that since my American friends have yet to celebrate Thanksgiving that you may want to try this out too!

Today's post is one that I have been most excited about sharing, as I am absolutely in love with Kandise's photographic work. Kandise of hibou photography got in touch with me a few months ago to ask if I'd like to collaborate on a shoot in regards to my blog. This can sometimes cause a juxtaposition of sorts, seeing that I never spend my Sundays in form fitting dresses or major embellishments. There is something about the autumn that makes plaid that much more fun to wear, especially when it is comfy and warm. I grabbed this button up at Joe Fresh at the end of summer and I have been waiting to match it up with my leather circle skirt ever since. Since this was daytime work wear, I opted for flats, but I can see this skirt becoming an absolute wardrobe staple as the season progresses, pairing perfectly with some platforms I have my eye on (psst... here). Red. A color that I was previously scared of, but have lately embraced with a deep and passionate love (okay, maybe the word passionate is a bit much). With an auburn tint to my hair, I never thought I could pull off crimson tones, but with the variety of hues partaking in the trends of the current season, I thought I would give it a go (mixing 2 red items in 1 outfit- wild & crazy, I know). These photos were taken on a coffee date while I was home for thanksgiving, and I have a few other posts coming up from my weekend in the nest that is my parents' house. A few weeks ago I scurried off to the beautiful city of Montreal in order to get in a visit with one of my best pals and warm his new home. My friend J and I took took head, venturing by car to the fair french metropolis. Amazing meals, lots of walking, and many belly laughs summed up the trip, and I, of course, took photographic evidence of just about everything. If you have never been to Montreal (or even Canada), I highly recommend. Enjoy!

It seems like the very moment I started to embrace the Autumn change-over, the Summer returned to us for another spin of warm & humid weather. I wore this outfit anyway (though it was close to 30 degrees on this particular day - yowza), as I wanted to incorporate my navys and camels for a warmer look. I spotted this horse scarf at H&M a week ago and decided that it would go with just about every other print (leading to my scooping it up in not one color, but two!). As the weather cools down here on the East coast, I'm layering up & finding ways to incorporate summer favorites with my new fall additions. I'm finding our 3 degree mornings to 22 degree afternoons a major transition, and needed a way to keep warm on this particularly crisp day. I've been waiting to wear my camel blazer on the regular, and it seemed to fit in with this little floral dress made up of some darker hues. Though I kept my legs bare, it's almost time for my very favorite accessory: opaque black tights. Stay tuned!

I fell for this dress the moment I set eyes on it. Easy and airy + long sleeved + leopard print = perfectly transitional piece. I knew I wanted to pair it with a belt of some kind, and this little neon one seemed to strike my fancy. I chose flats for a Sunday afternoon of wandering, but as the months get cooler, I'm picturing this dress paired with sky high platforms, tights, and a bright red coat.

I stumbled upon the Club Monaco Fall collection last night and found myself screeching (not really..) at each and every look they have put together for the next season. Happy Tuesday. This late summer outfit felt sort of Cupcakes & Cashmere, though it feels funny to make such a comparison when referring to an iconic fashion blogger. I was in love with this top the moment I spotted versions of it in both the J. Crew & Joe Fresh look books, and made it mine for a mere $14.00 earlier this summer. I adore stripes, and the bit of sequin musters this little top up to being the perfect addition to a casual outfit.

I don't have too much else to say right now. I'm very saddened by the death of Jack Layton, a Canadian political leader who lost his fight with cancer yesterday. If you would like to read his inspiring last words, click here.

It's been a little hectic to get some outfit photos up this week, though I have some summer shoots sitting in idle. Truth be told, I'm thinking about the Fall and all of the wardrobe mixing it will bring, but don't want to abandon summer just yet. I am beginning my lean towards the autumn already, though, incorporating jeans & layers as the mornings get just a bit cooler.

This day was particularly humid, so I threw my hair into some pinned up braids. As it appears from my flyaways, I couldn't beat all of the humidity, though I did keep relatively cool in my Searls skirt by Jack BB Dakota. This little skirt has been remixed by me a few times (see a few of them here), and I picture it transitioning into the next season quite nicely. It seems like everything I have from this brand I wear to death. Talk about cost to wear ratio!

Life has been a bit of a strange & busy variety lately, and it's certainly not all super positive. A few weekends ago my best pal Candice came up for a visit (see some photos from that visit here!). I was lucky enough to have her shoot some outfits shots for me as well, and I'm not sure a) why I have waited so long to post them & b) how I can take my own photos from here on out. She's so very talented.

I scooped up this blouse for real cheap, texting my other pal Kate immediately to let her know it existed (and for only $18!). I knew that I wanted to style it first with a circle skirt, and felt that chambray & leopard print would compliment each other well. I found this maxi skirt, and decided to wear it as a dress with a little belt action in order to beat the crazy summer heat we've been experiencing here in the east coast. This was a summer day where the littlest amount of clothing possible was required, and my hair had to be watered down constantly in order for it to remain socially acceptable. How did it become Friday? It seems like this week flew by right under my nose, though I'm definitely happy to say that a lot was accomplished. We had the most humid weather this week, which turned my head of hair into a halo of frizzy tendrils. So, so gorgeous.

I have some friends visiting this weekend, which will make for some lovely times. Cooking at home, wine, brunching, finding waterfalls, and stomach aching laughs are all on the agenda. I hope you all have incredibly wonderful weekends! xxx

A few weekends past I did some thrift shopping with Candice, hitting the vintage jackpot more times than one. I spotted this beautiful silk blouse and knew it had to be mine. Just a quickie since this girl is as busy as can be. Style blogging is so funny. Why else would one frolic around their backyard pool area in a beautifully layered, water colour, silk dress? Not too sure about my sanity at times, but this dress is, without a doubt, just so insanely gorgeous. Borrowed from my momma who picked it up in a boutique in a places called Eze, a small cliff top medieval village in France. It was quite honestly the most beautiful place I have ever been, and this dress is a wonderful sentiment to just that. A happy week to you all.

I had the most wonderful visit from Candice of Brilliant Sugar last weekend. We've been best pals for oh, almost 15 years, and our time together is never anything short of wonderful. We went to the farmer's market, caffeinated with some double lattes, roamed downtown in the sun, grabbing some brunch, and then went to a few boutiques. We finished off our date by making mojitos and catching up (a.k.a talking at warp speed for hours about anything & everything). Sometimes you just need a weekend with your best girl. Happy weekend!

Happy Wednesday, everyone. I'm rolling right along with the posts from my trip home - one more after this and I will be sort of caught up! To be honest, I don't own either the dress or the belt in this ensemble - they are my mum's! I love this animal print belt so much, but since it was a little big, I had to tie it in a big ol' knot. Maybe works, maybe doesn't. I figured that experimentation never hurt anyone. These shoes are quickly becoming my summer staple. They are just high enough to add that heel element to an outfit, but comfortable enough to wear alllll day long. Love!

Hi pals. I just spent the best weekend with my best pal, Candice. We ate delicious food (read: avocado salad w/ herbs from outside just cannot be beat) & consumed some mojitos, reminisced & giggled, and wandered around in the sun, popping in and out of thrift shops. It was the most perfect day, but unfortunately I am a delinquent and haven't gotten to editing those photos yet (even with being off today - wow). Instead I give you a set from last week. Hi darlings. Today I bring you a strange little top that I thrifted a few weeks back. I was into it for the bright palette, as it is most definitely out of my normal color element. It was a cheap little thing, so I decided that it was a-okay if I was on the fence in regards to its ugliness. I'm still unsure, though I had a fantastic time wearing it. Hi friends. Forgive me for my absence. I have been going through some transitions lately, and found that blogging had to take a back burner for a little while as I processed. I guess I was actively away from it all for about a week, and really, I missed it. I took some time to think about blogging, and how uninspiring times can work with one's "blog schedule". It's sometimes hard to keep up with this world when you are simply blah. Between finding inspiration & tripod-ing it on your lonesome, it can easily feel pointless. I then decided not to try too hard, and go with where I am right now: jeans, blouse, accessories - done. This, my friends, is my current uniform. And that's a-okay.

Today was one of those days where the morning started out chilly, but by afternoon, I was kind of sweltering. At the start of my day I was feeling like something oversized, knit, and neutral. This little vintage sweater has been in my closet for a little while now, and didn't get as much wear as I wanted it to during the colder months. I love the look of a plain palette once and again, and felt happy that it's finally the season for white. I apologize for the fact that I sort of cut my feet off in all of these shots. Being alone with tripod when you're sleepy can sometimes be a tricky task. Happy Thursday!

Sequin Stop

Sequin is one of my favorite trends to have graced the last few seasons of runway (& store). Wearing something sequin makes me feel a little more stylish almost instantly - even if said sequin came from the cheapest store in town. I spotted this dress for something ridiculous like $9.99 and scurried into the nearest dressing room to make sure it wasn't hideous on me (you know I was taking it home regardless). It has a little mesh portion on the neckline, and seems to fit in perfectly with whatever I'm feeling. I foresee it making many summer evening appearances. What's your take on sequin? Hi gang. It feels like awhile since I last posted, as my blog went under some sort of hiatus, losing its comments and not loading up for a little while there. It seems to be back to normal, and I have been stocking up on outfit photos on the in-between. I was feeling rather plain n' simple on this day. It was calling for thunderstorms all friggin' day, and guess what? Not a one. Thunderstorms are one of my very favorite parts of summer, so I was slightly bummed. On the positive, I got to snap these to give you a quick little post today. I'm really loving nude and neutral hues, and I think it's only fair to wear an enormous hair bow in order to spice things up. I wanted to add a colorful clutch, but guess what? I'm still on the hunt! Sneaky, sneaky red. Red seems to have snuck its ways into my last two outfit posts, and in fact, many of my outfits this Spring. This weekend past I even scored a vintage snakeskin belt that's the best bright red tone (along with some other ammmazing things - can't wait to share!). This simple outfit was worn to lunch with Kate on the very first day of Summer (or so it sort of felt). We sat outside, kept our sunglasses on, and filled up on salads and nachos and fizzy drinks. Guys. This is something I would wear about town on a weekend, though I can guarantee you that I'd trade in those heels for something else (Dear grey shoes: You are really pretty, but you rip my feet to shreds). Last month I was lucky enough to be featured on Tilly Boutique's blog for my remix of the Searls skirt by Jack BB Dakota (you can see their feature here!). I bought this beauty locally at Je Suis Prest knowing that I would have ample opportunity to style it up for every season. Transitioning through this Spring and gearing towards Summer, I have developed a deep appreciation for the mixing of unexpected prints. I'm not even positive that it always works perfectly, but it's at least a lot of fun to play with!

Hi friends. I apologize for my lack of posts this week, but somehow it became Wednesday and I hadn't shared an outfit with you. I have a special post for you today, as I was gifted the most lovely vintage dress from my pal Heather who owns a wonderful local consignment shop, reNeu Boutique. If you are a local, you must pop in and check out the loot here, as the store is jam packed with both new and old goodies in superior condition. I was in love with this dress immediately. It has a flouncy pleated bottom and a sweet print, as well as a bit of tulle underneath, which always makes my heart flutter. I love to pair vintage with modern, so decided to take my MK pumps out for a stroll. A beautiful vintage dress + designer heels is always one of my favorite pairings.

I spent the most lovely afternoon with my girlfriends (one being sweet Kate) on this day, wandering around for photo ops in the sun, admiring the bloom, getting fun beverages, and throwing tulips at each other. It was truly a perfect Spring day that had me geared up for the Summer. Picnics, fields of wild flowers, sidewalk coffees, and evening strolls in my favorite shoes are just a few of the things I'm looking forward to. What are your favorite parts of the Summer?

In one of my last posts I promised you guys some snippets from my trip down south, so I'm going to share a few of those today in my usual Friday photo feature. Perhaps we'll see another post or two outlining my adventures on the ocean, or perhaps I will abandon that idea like I did hemp necklaces in 2003 - we'll see. We've got a long weekend over here in Canada land, so I plan on getting lots of outfit shots in. I am also planning on revamping my Spring/Summer wardrobe and actually packing away the Winter stuff.
