Blunder

Hi guys. For Friday, I was trying to decide between a Rewind post and a Photo Diary, and came up with something.. in between. I guess I wasn't really fancying any of my rewind outfits too much, and I wasn't feeling quite tender enough to pick out my favorite moments of the week, which lead me to this. Here, pals, is a flourishingly failed attempt at a trend from a few months ago. I call this: the day I tried a DIY turban. Happy weekend!

"Gee, well, I just wrapped a scarf around my head haphazardly, I guess this might pass as a chic turban. Let's me ponder that for a moment."

"I'm unsure if I'm rocking it or not... Thank god I'm just hanging out across the street in front of an abandoned tire store by myself. I'll just make this pouty face and focus on my belt. At least that's cute."

"Uh oh. I'm pretty sure it's already starting to fall off. I can't go through the trouble of trying to wrap this thing around my head again. PLUS I won't even have a blog for another 6 months! Whatever, I'm going home."

Rewind - Dark Horse

This Friday's rewind post takes us back to September, when the season was just starting to change, and I was way excited about warmer layers. The Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, which takes place in our fair city each and every September, is the perfect fall kick-off. This night, I frequented many outdoor concerts, which allowed for layers and layers galore. I  think I was feeling particularly stoic the whole weekend, which prompted me to mix darks with darks… with darks, but just a little bit of sparkle at the neckline for good measure.

I hope that everyone has a really wonderful weekend. I do not have too much planned besides a big ol' house cleaning, and I think I will leave it that way. I've been craving some serious quiet time, and in this weekend I see books, mildly pricey wine, duvets, and maybe even a drive to the ocean. Bon Friday!

Rewind - A Ruffled Love

Hi Gang. So, it's Friday, and I was choosing between a Rewind post or a Photo Diary, and decided to go one for one, each week. So, for today, you get an outfit from the Summer, when things were green and I was warm. I can't complain, though - today was +4 degrees. There's hope! I picked up this blouse for it's front detailing, since I'm a sucker for a ruffle of any kind. I also like anything that has a touch of androgyny, and this ruffle, which sort of resembles a tie, fit the bill. I wore my very favorite basic necklace as a bracelet, and remember almost losing it about 15 times. Please never leave my life, thick gold chain

So, I have a really fun weekend lined up that includes brunching, cocktailing, dancing, and coffee-ing. How can it get better than that? I also get to meet another blogger, Kristy, who seems to have every interest and hobbie that I do. This is why I love the blogosphere, really. What do you all have planned out? Let me know of your small, rapturous moments. Have a happy weekend and stay tuned for next week, as I'll be hosting my very own giveaway. I can't wait!

Rewind - Doll Face

Is it Friday already? My goodness - where did this week go to? I couldn't believe it when I sat down and realized that it was already time for my rewind post this week, and boy am I glad I had something waiting in the reigns. Here we have business as usual: another day, another hair bow. I'm sort of in love with hair bow, if you couldn't already tell, and this one was a beauty. I use the term "was" purposely, as this little gem somehow found its way to the bermuda triangle and never returned. I miss you, white hair bow.

I spotted this dress on a trip to Urban Outfitters and found myself pining away for it two days after I'd left it in the dressing room (always the best indication that a clothing item must be yours!). I was in love with the sailor neckline and the beautifully muted blue. I went back to find it ma rked below half price.

I have a wonderful little weekend lined up which includes a day trip to visit Kate on Saturday in order to check out her new digs. I also plan on buying myself a fashion treat, consuming some carbonated beverages, and getting some outfit photos done (+1 celcius forecasted for this weekend - rejoice! tropics!). I hope that everyone has a rapturous moment or two these few days, and thank you so much for your reading.

Rewind - Trinket

Hello! I can't believe it is Friday. This week whizzed by like a heartbeat, and I didn't even get to do half the things I wanted to - on the blog, at work, or in life. Sigh. I suppose there is always next week. Here is a rewind for today, which is from the Fall, at the very end of September. I loved this blouse the moment I saw it. Monochromatic, plaid, and featuring an oversized cowl neck - how could I refuse? I couldn't help but incorporate my military jacking with everything during the crisp transitioning days, and though it is hard to see in the morning light of these photos, I'm wearing a perfectly adorable pin made of charms. I cannot remember where I found it, but I'm always scrounging up trinkets one way or another.

And here, as a very special present, is a photo of my last pair of black flats (read: before Winter's death grip took over our fair country), which were dangling upon death far too long before I threw them away. I treat my feet wisely most days, but can't understand why I wear black flats until they are worn down bare, full of holes, and ripping apart from the sole. Not my finest of traits. I wanted to share in order to a) be real & b) find out if this is something that other girls do? Spring resolution: treat black flats as you would a broken anything else. Happy Friday, my loves.

Rewind - Torrential Downpour

Another rewind, another summer memory. This was July, and I put this outfit together on a whim after taking myself out for "one small purchase". I picked up the floaty tunic in a baby pink, a color that I never wear (even though I love it, what gives?), and paired it with some simple black cigarette pants. I added the chandelier necklace as a detail to incorporate the clutch, which is gold clasped vintage faux snakeskin - that's a mouthful. I look pretty pissed in most of these photos, but I swear that it's just the curse of a downturned mouth. I was a-okay and learning what to do with my face in front of a camera. ....still learning - stay tuned.

As I usually do, I popped behind the old decrepit building across the street from my house on this day, un-phased by the ominous clouds that were lurking in the sky just past. It wasn't two photos in that I was running for shelter, ending up tucked under a tiny awning for close to an hour. At first I stayed because I was fearful of getting my camera wet, but after some time, realized that there is absolutely no harm in being trapped in a field to watch a storm hit the river and smell the grass become rejuvenated. After awhile, I was able to snap some more, and with better lighting to boot!

I had a pretty standard week, and hope to have a pretty standard weekend. I have no plans whatsoever, besides working, and hope for a quiet moment with a cup of coffee and my mohair socks, at the very most. It's pretty nippy over here in Eastern Can., and we're due for yet another nor'easter that is set to pound us with some more snow. I can tell that the days are getting longer, though, and I really have to get back out and into the swing of things photo wise - I'm moving through my reservoir pretty quickly. Thank you again for reading, friends and followers. I guess I don't throw out my appreciation too often, but here it is in a great big MUAH of thanks. Take care.

Rewind - Denim Darling

I promised you a few small ruffles, and here they are. This rewind is from October, when the temperatures were drastically rising and falling in the east coast, causing for a confused little me. These shoes were just so comfortable that I had to have them right then and there after I put my foot inside. It snowed just after I purchased them, so I'm excited for their re-appearance once the thaw comes along. The denim dress was found at a liquidation centre for only a few dollars. It's actually a child’s size, so I had to spend the day re-situating the front where the buttons meet. A small price to pay for something so perfect on a moderately warm autumn day.

I've been a bit m.i.a from blog perusing & commenting, as I've been working some very long work hours. This Saturday, though, I will pour a big cup of coffee and send you all some lovely words – I’m sure of it! I'm so thankful for all of your wonderful words and cheerful encouragement. If you are following me, thank you. Please have a wonderful few days this weekend!

Rewind - Common Thief

Hello again! It's Friday, which is the day that is currently dedicated to my Rewind post of the week. Since I only started blogging a few weeks ago, but started taking photos in - oh - May - I have so many backlogged outfit posts.

My very first rewind featured an outfit from a few years ago, when I was living in Ireland and simply thinking about starting a style blog. Can you tell I procrastinate a wee bit? The second rewind outlined my love for summer, and featured a small photo session that was done in a cornfield. For the third rewind, I sported a floral romper with tights, as it was September and the air was starting to chill. In that post I described my most frequent photo location, which is where I am in today's rewind. This was a few weeks before the Autumn had hit, on the very last day of August.

I remember this day so well. It being one of the last days of summer, all of my pals were taking off to multiple beaches and swimming holes in order to enjoy one of the last hot days. In lieu of that, I had a date with my brain, spending my day solitary to take a walk across thebridge, visit the trees, and get some coffee.

I was inching towards fall, as you can tell from the military colored dress, brown tones, and sequin bag. I'm still searching for a perfect sequin clutch, but this one did just fine in a pinch, as I was lusting over all things sequin and maybe still am. I just cannot get enough!

It's kind of late here in the East, and this whole blogging thing has been making me severely miss my bedtime. I think I will sit down over the weekend and work myself out a decent schedule in order to fit everything in during weekdays.

I want to say thank you to all of the bloggers who shouted me out this week - Tieka of Selective Potential, Kate of O My Heart!, and Barb of barbbarbbarb. It is hugely appreciated, and made this week of blogging so much fun. Thank you for reading, commenting, and following as well - every word of encouragement I've received from you new followers has really made my days. Happy weekend!

Rewind - Secret Heart

Hello Friday, hello friends. Here is a rewind post to start the day. Here I am in September, when the leaves started to change and the air started to chill. I'm at one of my favorite photo spots, which is behind an abandoned old building across the street from my home. Beyond it just a bit is the old train bridge which spans across the river running straight through our city. It is a place that is quiet, private, and peaceful.

This romper fits me to a T. I never though that I would find a romper that properly accommodated my body, since I have absolutely no torso, but here it is. I found this little darlin' majorly on sale on a giant rack of rompers at Urban Outfitters this summer, and scooted back for it after I put it on hold to "think it over". I'm glad that I did, since it has served me a few lovely wears. I did get in a small fender bender while wearing this, though, and it's still stained slightly from the iced cappuccino that flew all over my lap and head upon collision. Woops.
