The Trench

Trench: H&M / Blouse: Joe Fresh / Sunnies: Le Chateau / Agenda: Kate Spade / Bag: Michael Kors "Hamilton"

One clothing item that makes its reliable round in my closet every single fall & spring like clockwork is the tried & tested trench coat.  Transitional days are still going on over here on the East coast, so pulling this over my blazer for Fall work days is the most perfect. I've had this coat for a few years now, but I'm also sweet on this one with its cool collar detailing.

Also fun & exciting for my dorky self is the Kate Spade day planner I scored last week - I have been eye-ing it online for weeks now, but stumbled upon it in person - it's the most pretty,  super organizationally functional, and adorned with glasses like my very own - love at first sight. <3

What clothing item makes you feel all put together?

Day To Day

Just a quick pop in with an Instagram collage of shots from over the past few months since I've been pretty delinquent with outfit shots this week and last. Outlined below, it appears that things in my day to day are pretty much comprised of food, flowers, clothes, and my cat. ...If the shoe fits? Also, if you'd like to follow along with my day to day (which I update on the regular), you can find me right over here. And the above...

Kale salad with walnuts & goat cheese, a pretty pink peony, accidentally matching my magazine to my outfit, my living room on one Saturday afternoon, beautiful & misty Cape Breton (that I miss!), the sweetest mini yellow tomatoes at the market, more flowers (this time english roses in pinks), a best friend reunion in September, makeup play before a bachelorette - classic cat eyes & burgundy lips, a Joe Fresh moto jacket I'm highly considering bringing on board, garden centrepieces, downward pause for some mixed roses, garment sort (there's another double closet I have all organized as well! success!), overalls & nude silk & a heart of gold, tomato crush, Miss Pip basking in the sun in her kitty bed.

Brand New Again

Coat: c/o Joe Fresh / Dress: H&M / Boots: Joe Fresh / Bag: Thrifed / Sunnies: Le Chateau

I mentioned in an older post that this 70's inspired BRIGHT ORANGE Joe Fresh pea coat would be top tier in my closet once Autumn hit. Well, as it appears, I am clairvoyant. I have decided on this coat as my "main coat" this Fall, which is a decision that is based upon a few things:

1: It's just so super gorgeous. The hue, the fit, the structure, the warmth (even though we have been blessed with a truly warm Fall this year).

2: Though it was sent to me last year, I only really got a few decent wears out of it before it was out of season, so it's like it is brand new again. I love when that happens.

3: I was aware I even owned it because I finally organized my closet. This may sound direly pathetic (and like the biggest 'first world problem' ever), but my closet situation was allowing me to forget about things I literally owned, which would lead me to buy new things when I didn't even need them, which added to the hoarding problem, starting the cycle all over again. This is me admitting that I have been ridiculous with attire organization. But now! Now I am 4 garbage bags of items lighter, everything has a place and a purpose, and it is really just the most amazing thing in ever.

Any of y'all closet delinquents?

Thanksgiving (Collages / Recaps)

Weekend 1
Weekend 2

I took a nod from the lovely Alicia in creating these Polyvore sets, as she will often outline appropriate outfits for different occasions. I figured it was a great way to document some of my weekend, though I didn't really wear these exact replicas to all of the outlined events (I wish?).

As you can see, my long weekend had a nice variety of activities. It started with a Saturday morning farmer's market trip - my very favorite of things. Fresh produce, wild flowers, strong lattes, all of the cheeses, and running into friends - all with a gorgeous tree lined street walk to & from - it's pretty much perfection personified. I also finished up my epic closet clean out, sort out (4 bags for women's shelter donation - FOUR!), which left me much more organized & inspired. I attended 2 dinners with both work friends & my roomate's family, went on a woods photowalk, played outside lots & lots, sat by a bonfire for 3 hours, caught up on kitty cuddle time, and made these in my pajamas with all of the coffee & all of the repeats of this album. All in all, the most perfect long weekend I could have asked for. I'm a very thankful girl.

I hope all of my fellow Canadian friends had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend here, there, and everywhere.

The weather has been so absolutely beautiful these days, and I'm basking in it fully.

This day is a sunny one, I have a strong coffee, and the weekend is here. Happy Friday!

A Change Of Heart

Blouse: c/o Old Navy / Skirt & Clutch: c/o Banana Republic / Shoes: ALDO / Watch: Guess / Bracelets: Oia Jules & Urban Outfitters / Sunnies: reNeu Boutique

I lied to you guys. Just in this post here, I rhapsodized that bare legs were gone with the season. A thing of the past. Bye bye birdie. Vamoose. Well, this week's temperatures have returned to end-of-summer warm and I managed to get by with bare legs. I was okay with this, just as I was okay with receiving a shipping notification on my door this week that Gap/Banana Republic/Old Navy had sent me a box of Fall goodness.

Enter: This most perfect cobalt drop waist skirt & this pajama-ish printed blouse. So, I absolutely love this blouse. It's a bit different from me, and reminds me a bit of the Celine blouses, which is a wonderful, lovely thing. I can't wait to wear it with a pair of distressed denim that I also received.. it's like they had my Fall wish list on hand!

Thank you for these goodies Gap/BR/Old Navy! x

Fall Essentials

Fall Essentials

I have been heavily focusing on the arrival of autumn, both emotionally & aesthetically. I simple love the Fall and during brunch with a girlfriend this weekend past, we determined that people simply dress their "best" during this season. The summer is easy breezy, the Winter is about keeping warm, and the Spring is sometimes just confusing.. but Autumn is really the best of all worlds. Layering, knits, textured fabrics, moody color schemes, as well as an overall feeling to "refresh" oneself - these are a few of my favorite things.

I started a closet overhaul this weekend past, and I feel like I have a bit of a handle on what my official Fall wish list may be. Of course I can't go with every exact item listed above, and will be opting for cheaper versions, but there are some that will come on board exactly as they are (case in point: those ankle strap Zara pumps) - i.e. I have already scored the silk J. Crew Blythe blouse in basic cream and found the most perfect makeup palette via a neutral eyeshadow kit & poppy red lipstick.

What is on your official Fall wish list?

Color Code

Sweater: Thrifted / Skirt: H&M / Tights & Bracelets: H&M / Satchel: Vintage / Watch: Guess / Sunnies: reNeu Boutique / Earrings: Thrifted / Shoes: Nine West

Autumn air has made its way into September here on the East Coast, and it looks like it is here to stay. I'm accommodating accordingly with a few things:

-The return of tights. I think the days of bare legs are gone for yet another year, though this is just fine with me.
-The return of darker, moodier color palettes - starting here with a classic black & red.
-The return of heavier fabrics. (Faux) leathers, fisherman's knits, and tweeds... be mine.

Also with the inception of Fall is the inception of different (but tried & trusted) habits. This weekend will consist of farmer's market produce (this time of year is the best of the best, isn't it?), a little red wine, record listening, brunch with a girlfriend, and closet re-vamping (Summer clothes... R.I.P).

Happy Friday, one & all.

Back To Basics

Blouse: J. Crew "Blythe" / Blazer: Envy / Pants: Joe Fresh / Shoes: Nine West / Satchel: Thrifted / Watch: Guess / Glasses: Elizabeth & James

Sometimes, somedays... there are fashion miracles. If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen me rhapsodize about scoring this J. Crew Blythe blouse for under $20. Normally well over the $100 mark, I managed to pick this up via sale + gift card for a fraction of the price, which was happily welcomed as I've wanted one of these babies for quite some time now. I have heard nothing but great things about the Blythe. Seeing that it's as basic as can be, but 100% silk, oh-so well made, and beautifully fitting, it's a wardrobe no-brainer.

These reviews were spot on. I've worn this 4 times since it's arrival last week, and expect to stock up on just about every colour I can as similar sales come down the line. Paired with basic black separates & a dark burgundy lip for a work day look & I'm right as rain (and rain today it did...).

It's autumn y'all - back to basics.

Fall Frenzy

Fall Frenzy

Gucci Blouse / OHNE TITEL Skirt / ASOS Fedora / Coach Legacy Haley Satchel / Robert Rodriquez Skirt / Zara Dress / Zara Felt Cap / Karen Walker Northern Lights Sunglasses / MAC Lipstick in "Lush Life" / TIBI Piper Ankle Boots / Marc Jacobs Daisy / Zara Dress / Noir Collar

If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen me tweet the following, "there is a time of year when you feel the seasons click. the air is crisp, the summer is gone & i veer to red wine, soup, knits & nostalgia.". It couldn't be more true. I made soup this week, have had 2 bottles of red wine since Friday, and my nostalgia is particularly on fire.

I also veer towards a wardrobe revamp. See above. If I look at last year's early Fall polyvore, it's a bit of a mish-mash, a mess, a blunder. This year I am feeling much more streamlined & simple (in every sense of the word), and majorly feeling the ol' mindset of quality over quantity. While some of these pieces are ridiculously out of the realm of possibility (hello Tibi boots, you are more than my rent?), there are a few items in there that are realistic contenders. My sights are set on both of those darling hats, some Zara dresses, and cheaper versions of both the burgundy blouse + quilted skirt. I think I can hunt those down just fine.

The key to this Fall will be taking inventory of my closet and figuring out what I already have covered and then picking some key pieces wisely from there. Perhaps I could even make a blog post out of that journey... maybe then I'd be held accountable.

What are you feeling for Fall?
