I had the best weekend.
In the spirit of time sensitivity, I'll share with you my Facebook status from yesterday, which is kind of telling in itself, since I hardly ever make statuses on that social media platform. "Sometimes you wander 4 hours into Quebec wilderness on your own for a wedding, run through a field with sparklers, cheers to fireworks, drink beers from a can, dance to a live country band, eat three pieces of cake, sleep under the most beautiful stars you've ever seen, and have just the very best time.". Unmentioned too is the early morning coffee I drank on a deck overlooking a river valley, the solo woods walk I took with a pup, and the delicious yet disgusting poutine I ate before leaving the province.
I've had an up & down Summer, and there have been some recent moments of ickiness. But then I remembered & recounted it: my life is really not all that hard. At all. I have it swell. I am alive, for frig sakes. I am the luckiest.
So what's next? Getting back on track with eating, editing photos of all the beauty lately, digging into hot yoga, reading more & internetting less, launching a street style blog, and getting some at-home things done before my next wedding (at home!) in oh, 18 days.
Oh, and this outfit? Worn to another wedding earlier in the Summer, where I took the photos. I picked it up it for its longer length (never good to flash the groom), and have found it fit into my wardrobe just wonderfully these past few weeks. It often gets action with this blazer for work, and it paired well with this hat for a boating trip.
To note: I think it's finally time I do something with this mop of mine. I don't dye it anymore, but past dye jobs + summer times have made its colour pretty uneven & crazy. That said, I have no idea what to do. I don't really want to take on dye jobs again.. but what's a girl to do?

When I grew out my dye job, I had my stylist apply a demi-permanent colour that closely matched my natural hair colour. It covers the old, dyed ends and fades nicely so you don't get a line as your roots grow in. This was a no-maintenance solution for me (as in, I did it once and then never again), and let me grow out my old colour seamlessly.
If you wanted to keep some extra colour, you can always do a mix of highlights and lowlights. Since they don't cover all your hair, they can look more natural as you're growing everything out, as you'll have a mix of natural and artificial colour at your roots. This will require SOME maintenance, though- I got highlights a couple of months ago, and I'm planning on getting them touched up every 16 weeks (I get a trim every 8 weeks).
Loving this dress, have to say. I hear you on the up and down summer.
Also? Can't wait for the launch of the street style blog!
Love the dress--I wanted desperately to get the white version but it really gaped at the back and I would have had to do some heavy duty altering. Didn't seem worth it at the time. Did you have to do any alterations to your dress?
I love your hair in this post! Don't do anything to it! It's hella gorgeous!
I have this dress too in white and isn't it the best? Super versatile and really comfortable. And there's nothing better than a cotton dress to stay cool in the summer! Really loving the navy version on you Kristin!
Bold Subtlety
Hi Roxanne!
Thanks for the comment! It fits me pretty well - I had to go down to a size 0 though! It gapes the TINIEST bit, but I find the belt helps me out.
Sad to hear it didn't work for you. :(
